Creative & Design Services
Thank you for reaching out about Urban Room Hair, Kerrin — and for being so clear about what you're after. It makes this an easy brief to answer well.
What you've described isn't a rebrand. The name works, the recognition is already built with your clients, and the logo has equity worth keeping. What's missing is consistency — the small drift that happens across a website, a business card, an Instagram grid and a shopfront when there's no single set of rules holding them together.
So this proposal is deliberately tight. We refine the logo you have, lock the colours you already know you like, write those rules down in a mini style guide, and apply them to the three pieces you named. Everything here is a starting point for conversation — we'd love to refine it with you.
The Business
Urban Room Hair is an established salon with a client base that already knows the name. The brand isn't starting from zero — it's carrying recognition that a refresh should protect rather than reset.
The Ask
A little refresh, in your words: an updated or refined logo, a colour palette you already have in mind, and the supporting elements that keep everything consistent. Not a full identity rebuild.
The Touchpoints
Website, business cards, Instagram and social, signage and other marketing material. Three pieces are in scope now — business card, gift card and email signature — with the rest able to follow once the foundations are set.
The Budget
Under $2,000. Our standard brand refresh sits at $2,500 + GST; because your scope is genuinely a refinement, we've priced it at $1,300 + GST and brought the whole recommended scope in at $1,950 + GST.
Where the value sits
Three observations from your enquiry that shaped what we've recommended.
Refine, don't restart
Your clients recognise your mark. Redrawing it from scratch would throw that away and cost you more. The work is to tidy the drawing, fix the spacing and proportions, and build out the variations you're missing — a stacked lockup for signage, a submark that actually works as a social profile picture.
Consistency is the real deliverable
You listed website, cards, social, signage and marketing material — five places the brand can quietly drift apart. The single most valuable thing in this scope is the mini style guide: colour values for print and screen, a locked type pairing, and clear logo rules. It's what stops the drift returning six months from now, and it means anyone you hand work to gets it right.
Your colours are a head start
Yes — please send them through. Knowing where you want to land saves us an exploration round, and that time goes back into refining rather than guessing. Our job then is to build a working palette around them: the right neutrals, enough contrast to stay legible, and values that hold up in print as well as they do on screen.
Initial creative direction
Concepts come later in the process, and your colours will shape a good deal of this. Here's the territory we'd expect to explore.
Mood
Calm, current and uncluttered — the feeling of a considered salon rather than a busy one. Generous space, a clear grid, and restraint in how much sits on any one piece.
Colour
Led by the colours you send us, built into a working palette: one or two heroes, a supporting neutral range, and a deep tone for contrast. Specified in CMYK, RGB, HEX and Pantone.
Typography
A single confident pairing — one face for headlines, one quiet face for detail — locked into rules so the fonts stay put across your site, your socials and anything a printer touches.
Application
Tested where it has to work: small on a business card, legible across a window, cropped into a social avatar. If it doesn't hold at those three sizes, it isn't finished.
Recommended scope
Given the scope is a refinement of an existing brand rather than a build from scratch, we recommend the Brand Refresh together with the three collateral pieces you named — rather than one of our full identity packages.
Brand Refresh
A considered refinement of an existing identity — for established businesses whose name and reputation are working, but whose visual language has drifted or never had rules written down.
- Refined primary logo
- Secondary logo variation / stacked lockup
- Submark for social and small applications
- Custom colour palette — CMYK, RGB, HEX, Pantone
- Typography pairing and hierarchy
- Mini brand style guide (PDF)
- Final files supplied in web and print formats
- Kick-off call and review of current assets
- Two refined logo directions presented
- One selected direction developed to final
- Two rounds of revisions included
Collateral Suite
The three pieces you named, designed once the refreshed identity is approved so they're built from the same rules rather than adapted after the fact.
If at any point you'd rather rebuild than refine — a new mark, a full identity system, brand patterns and a complete guidelines document — that's our Full Brand Identity package, from $6,500 + GST over 6 to 8 weeks. We don't think you need it today. It's simply the path if the business grows in a direction the current mark can't carry, and the refresh work above isn't wasted if you go there later.
If you want more down the track
None of this is needed to get the refresh live, and nothing here is included in the recommended scope. You mentioned website, social and signage — when you're ready for those, this is what they look like.
